While enthusiasts of the traditional, formulaic Bond character; the perpetually composed womanizer, might not appreciate Daniel Craig’s rugged, angsty depiction, they have to respect his ruthlessness. Picking up where Casino Royale left off, Bond is fueled by vengeance, betrayal, and a broken heart at the hands of the luscious Versper Lynd (Eva Greene), venturing as a vigilante across the globe, narrowly escaping death at the hands of MI6 and Dominic Greene (Mathieu Amalri), the most intriguing and believable Bond villain in years. While Quantum’s plot isn’t always clear and doesn’t adhere to the template of previous Bond films, it’s certainly worth checking out, if only for variety’s sake. [AHLA]
